Lewis Hall transfer news: Newcastle tell Man Utd left-back is not for sale this summer

Newcastle United have told Manchester United that full-back Lewis Hall is not for sale this summer, after an initial enquiry was rejected.

Manchester United are looking to strengthen at left-back this summer and 21-year-old England international Hall is a player they have long admired.

But Newcastle turned down their enquiry two weeks ago, and are in the market to add another full-back themselves.

Hall has three years remaining on his current Newcastle contract.

Manchester United are currently going into the new season with Shaw as their only senior option at left-back, following Tyrell Malacia's departure on a free transfer.

Manchester United will continue to assess their options this summer as they look to strengthen Michael Carrick's side with an additional midfielder still a possibility at this stage.

"We first reported Hall's name [as a Man Utd target] in March, and a lot of people raised an eyebrow.

"People were like, 'oh, Lewis Hall, that's never going to happen'. And then, from my perspective, it has shifted a little bit.

"Hall is someone they really admire, and also actually feels a little bit achievable now this summer because of where Newcastle ended last season. They have no Champions League football to look forward to.

"You look at Newcastle's change in manager, the ownership and the players leaving...

"Newcastle wouldn't be happy to lose Hall, but I wouldn't say from a Newcastle perspective that he's irreplaceable.

"He was out of the team a little bit in April. From Manchester United's perspective, with all of these factors, they believe he is an achievable target this summer."
